The Fun We Have
We enjoy sharing our llamas. We often visit schools, libraries and nursing homes. It's not unusual to see a "llama parade" going through our small town when the weather is nice. We often walk from our home into town with them. It always brings people out of their homes, stops traffic and everyone gets a little llama education. You'd be surprised the number of people that have never seen; let alone touched a real live llama! There is one lady along our route that will have carrots cut up and waiting for the llamas! Some know them by name and have their favorites. "Oh where's Buttons", "You didn't bring my favorite one today?"
I also spin the fiber sheared from the llamas. My dream is to knit a sweater! This year all the 4H kids made drop spindles and learned to spin! When we get enough done, we'll try to make some mittens or a hat so the kids have something special.
Los Llameros de St Paris, The First Llama 4H Club
We also started the first llama 4H club here in Champaign County. There are now 3 camelid clubs!! You can see just what the club has been up to by visiting the Picture Trail link below.
I'd love to hear from you!
